Constant Instantaneous Luminosity Control:

With the dynamic range in the density from 0.1E14 atoms/cc to 3.2E14 atoms/cc, it is possible to keep a luminosity =2e31cm-2s-1 from a beam current of 80 mA (or more) to 10 mA.

Changing the pressure of the hydrogen at the nozzle aperture and the temperature of the nozzle, it is possible to change the parameters of the clusterization process, such as the speed of the clusters or the number of clusters formed. These parameters affect the value of the density.
The following plot shows the curve of {pressure, temperature} values used by the constant luminosity control system. On the same plot, it is possible to see the corresponding values of density. The control changes the {pressure, temperature} condition on that curve every 5 seconds, to increase the density, following the drop of the current.

Note that the Liquid/Gas saturation curve for hydrogen is very close to that {pressure, temperature} path. The choice of this path, on which we have high density and low background, has been possible due to the precision of the control system for the nozzle pressure (1 psia) and temperature (0.1 K).
