Shift summary for Owl and Day of October 2, 1996 Present: Fan (O), McTaggart (O), Baldini (O), Gollwitzer, Zioulas, Argiro (D), Rumerio (D) At the end of this message are the run numbers and run values for the luminosity and number of events. The integrated luminosity numbers comes from Xioaling Fan program. A psi' data point was taken under the same run conditions as the first except for a slight increase in the jet density. Another point has been taken with an additional "neutral trigger" (see below). It was noticed over night that the jet density slowly decreased as measured from R1 gauge and the Temperature while the set point was stable. Oscillations of density was also seen within the slow fall off. The detector rates also followed the trend of the jet density. The beam life time was increasing during this time. Jet people are looking into this. The neutral trigger of PBG1 * anti(FCH OR) * anti(H1*H2' OR) was tried. The DAQ would hang when this trigger was run. It was traced down to the output of the Master MLU having an occasional 3-5ns pulse instead of the nominal >20ns pulse. By removing the charged vetoes, the problem was no longer observed. There appears to be more timing of the trigger is needed. The "neutral trigger" turned out to be PBG1 prescaled. The channel 5 of the output of the Master Mlu seems to be very noisy (see logbook pg.79). The second trigger allowed the filter and logging program to exercise splitting the data to streams based upon the hardware trigger type. The prescale factor mentioned above was chosen so that the tape logging rate were the same. A short study was conducted of trigger rates of the 7 Master MLU outputs. The gas jet density was measured to be 8.5*10^13, I_beam = 18.7mA, luminosity of 5.78*10^30.
