Shift 0-8:00 10/8/96 RM-TP-FM Continuing data taking with run 581 and 584 at Ecm=3686.5 MeV. The integrated luminosity on this point has been 650 nb-1 (computed with the beam current and jet density). At 4:08 deceleration started and at 5:35 data taking (run 585) resumed at Ecm=3680.02 MeV (close enough to the required value). Some work has been done to set the FCAL summer thresholds. As 7:45 data taking is continuing. Find that gain is insensitive to gate widths > 90 ns. From now on the ADC gate will be 100 ns. 3) Measure gain as a function of ADC start. Insensitive to position of start until >20ns. However, we did not look at any channels in the first 10 ADC modules in the crate: the first module will be more sensitive to the start than the eleventh. 4) Measure gain as a function of position of gate. This will allow us to understand our sensitivity to near in time signals. 5) Reset TDC thresholds to 6 mv. Set trigger to PBG3*(H1*H2')OR to take data for calorimeter t0s. TDC rate is high. Reset TDC thresholds to 8mv. TDC rate is high in only 16 channels. Take 2,000,000 events for TDC calibration. (Note, the problem is not noisy discriminators. Rather the TDC stop has to be advanced in time by 30 ns to compensate for the 30 ns change in the ADC gate. This is to avoid TDC hits due to a reflection from the closing of the ADC gate which causes the discriminator to fire.) Peter Maas for the CCAL group.
