Program  : Take data at the Chi 2 

On Shift : PM, SA, RMc

Comments: 

(1) Inherit run from previous shift.  Continue.

(2) At 17:15, Nadia and company intervene to equalize hodoscope gains. 
They finish at 18:30.

(3) Attempt to restart DAQ.  Due to large pedestals in the hodoscopes 
have some problems downloading pedestals to the FERA system.  Suggest 
that the following procedure be used when taking pedestals:

     a) start pedestal DAQ (ie drt_fresh_start -b pedestal)
     b) when in the pedestal program do the following:
          i) Write pedestal data to a file
         ii) Edit the file and check the hodoscope pedestals and sigma
          
each line is of the following form:
            IDET     VSN    CHA     MEAN    SIGMA

pedestals for the hodosope are at the end of the file.
        iii) Ensure that MEAN + 2*SIGMA <= 255.  If not true, change the
             mean such that MEAN + 2*SIGMA = 255   !!!!!!
    IF YOU HAVE ALTERED ANY PEDESTAL MEANS THEN
         iv) Read pedestals from file
          v) Write pedestals to the database
    ELSE
         iv) Write pedestals to the database

Of course the long term solution is to correct the program so that if a value
greater than 255 is written to the database, 255 is written to the 
database to prevent sending the shift crew into a panic (apologies to 
George and Michelle)

4) Launch DAQ after conquering the pedestal problem.  Run 713 starts at 19:17
and ends at 23:45 (stop run to allow the night shift to fill out a run 
sheet).  Accumulated 100 inverse nanobarns.
