E835 Weekly Meeting Minutes -- January 20, 2000 (KEG reporting) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ NOTE: Weekly Meetings are held Tuesday and Thursdays at 5pm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The current tentative plan is the following: 1) Stack until 8am Tuesday, 2) Studies (outlined at the end) for 8-12 hrs, 3) Decelerate the remaining stack to end of ramp 4) Access if needed 5) Stack until Thu am 6) psi' scan The following are quick status reports (in the order given around the room) for things that have changed from last night's "shift" summary by Stephen. Paolo has replaced two "old" LeCroy 4300 ADCs (SCIFI readout) with the 4300b modules. The 4300 occasionally gives out the same data word twice when readout via the front. Wander reported for the Ferrara group that all SCIFI fibers are now connected to the VLPC cassettes. The fibers and connections have been light tightened. This work was done during the evening and owl shift access. Willi is looking for more feedback about the detector online monitor. He will be addressing saving and reseting the histograms including a possible automatic save when the run number changes. The luminosity monitor group will re-look at the threshold set for the scaler counter data sent to the beams division. They will also try decoding the luminosity data written to file over the weekend. The online display is also in need of investigation since very little luminosity was reported this weekend. Jason reported that he has fixed the missing min-bias data for rings 7 and 8 (unplugged cable), He is also fixing the miscabling of rings 17 and 18 ring sums. Jason reported that he believes that these ring sums were not part of the the total energy trigger in 1996-97. All except four FCAL counters were seen in the data file. During the access two counters were fixed; the other two are known dead PMTs. There is some concern that the small counters' signals maybe arriving a few ns before the gate. The straw chamber gas (not currently flowing) bottle valve has a leak. A new valve/regulator will be acquired tomorrow. The nitrogen cooling appears to be functioning; Cary would like to access to check the system in the pit. The hodoscope data is being examined and a first attempt at determining T_0 is being done. During the access, one disconnected CCAL signal was re-connected. The offline has been run to level 45 on the Alphastations. There have been a few problems ironed out on the SGI's. Diego will be looking into re-commissioning the mini-DST code. A HV mainframe controller was setting the voltage ~200V lower than the demand (was seen in the CCAL online monitor plots). Two replacements have been inserted and do not work; PREP will be asked for any working controller. Work progresses in trying to have a working HV monitor. A plot of all invariant mass combinations of CCAL clusters (as calculated online by PRUDE) shows a good pi0 peak. The only selection is that the data was triggered by the physics triggers GM1 (e+e-) and the neutral triggers (GM4,5,7,8). The following will be done during Tuesday's study period with the beam-jet interactions (not in any priority): 1) Finished implementing a parallel trigger line using the new charged trigger logic module. 2) Look at a few signals that are troubling/problematic. 3) Test and verify new PRUDE code for selection of CCAL and FCAL calibration data set. 4) Set timing of SCIFI readout. 5) Look at straw signals if the correct gas has flown for a few hours. 6) Check online monitor histograms and features. 7) Check the pbarp and phiphi triggers logic and signals 8) Check Master MLU and Gatemaster timing. Other items that do not interactions but need a period when there is no stacking: 1) 1PE measurements for the cerenkov PMTs 2) Set timing of laser trigger The disk space on the backend systems is full. Please cleanup.
