There are delays in the startup of the debuncher studies: 1) There is at least 1 obstruction in the Main Injector beam pipe which will hold off beam for at least 12-24 hours as the beam pipe is cleared. 2) The vacuum in AP50 beam pipe was let up to atmosphere, the jet was just turned on and vacuum will be re-established by ~mid-night. 3) There is still ~2 (day) shifts of work to be done on the debuncher cooling systems (debugging of power distribution and controlling CPUs). Hence for today and tomorrow, the tunnel and pit will be CONTROLLED ACCESS during the day shifts; beam will be run at night. If you access, please don't drop the interlocks and exit the pit by 15:00 (don't be the last group out of the tunnel). Due to item 1) above, the probability of beam tonight is <1%. Also there may be some day access on Friday. The debuncher studies will go through the weekend with the debuncher polarity change occurring Mon/Tue; then stacking can commence. Keith As a side note: when the fire alarm sounds in AP50, exit the building and assemble in the parking area to provide any information to the responding groups (don't just go to the trailers).
