Dear All, What I present here is the result of attending the Beams Division operational meeting and discussions with D. McGinnis and M. Church this morning. The shutdown activities are on schedule. Thursday Evening: pbar source and AP50 pit will go to controlled access. Friday Evening: startup of the accelerator complex with the goal of stacking. May stacking periods: will be the same as April -- ~15% of the time allowed for accelerator studies. Possibly an additional ~20% of the stacking cycles will be loss to tevatron studies (once the tevatron comes on the latter half of May). May non-stacking periods: same as April -- pbar studies for ~2 shifts a week which may come during stacking, prior to deceleration or after a stack has been dumped. There may also be other studies that go on while E835 is taking data which should not affect E835 beam. Keith ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dear All, today Dale Miller and I went downstairs. 1) We've investigated a bad reading from the cold trap termometer on the outlet of the liquid nitrogen line. This reading was used for monitoring purposes and does not play any roles in the logic of the jet target apparatus. This termometer is reading 54K instead of ~90K. We ruled out possible problems with the cables to the cold trap: the problem must be inside the cold trap itself. We won't take any further actions for now, since the measurment is not crucial. 2) We pulled 2 cables from downstairs to upstairs in order to connect the reading of 2 pressure gauges for R1 and J1 (PT10V and PT04V). These readings are used in the start/stop procedures for the R1 and J1 pumps for monitoring purposes. This afternoon Cary will go downstairs to monitor the status of the pumps. Regards Gabriele
