Dear All, Yesterday it was found that the AP30 heat exchanger for the cryo helium was contaminated. The initial guess (which was reported at last night's weekly meeting) was that stacking would not commence until late in the weekend while the cryo system recovered. However, the cryo people were able to isolate and decontaminate late last night and now the system will be ready for stacking this evening. The other accelerator work is nearly on schedule. It is expected that first beam will begin soon after 18:00. With the preliminary check-outs and such, stacking probably will not begin close to midnight. With all of the usual caveats about startups, the earliest deceleration could be expected on Saturday's evening shift (day shift should check early in the day to see if they will be needed near the end of their shift). Now all we need is a stack size and deceleration energy!!!! Keith
