Gatemaster 14
FCAL Cosmic Ray Muon Trigger
This trigger consisted of the coincidence of two scintillator
paddles (not associated with the main detector).
The first paddle is located above the HV relay racks in the AP50
service hall and is 'directly' above the FCAL position.
The second paddle was located in the cable trays directly above
the FCAL itself in the AP50 tunnel.
The two paddles are separated by /e835/people/20 feet with 12 feet of
concrete between.
It is assumed a coincidence is caused by a nearly straight
down cosmic ray muon.
The cosmic ray muon should then pass into the FCAL and hopefully
travell through all 14 rows of modules transverse to the nominal
axis of each module.
These signals were used in E760 to monitor the status of the
FCAL.
This trigger was active for when the E835 FCAL1 was in place
The trigger's run history
can be found on the
PRUDE page.
