Shift Summary 1/29/2k Owl: Beam at start: 8 mA; Beam at end: 6.4 mA; Typical Lumin. 0.4 x 10^31 Data type: Psi' scan Runs 5025, 5027, 5028, start 5029 Shifters: NP, RM, SP Log Book Pages 174 to 183 Summary: Finished 6th point and started 7th. 6th has nice evidence of psi' production.. 7th seems to be lower cross section.. Notice: McGinnis tells us that we should give him 4 hrs notice of when pbar should start stacking again. Narrative: 6th point (5025) went very well. It was really nice to see the psi' again. Deceleration to 7th reduced energy first by 100keV and then by another 300 keV; it lost essentially no beam. We had some problems after that. A bad tape drive or tape - no. 8 - ended run 5027. We switched to the stream without drive 8. At one stage the system hung - unfortunately there is no audible warning - and we didn't notice for a few minutes. A reset got us going again. The gas-jet density kept decreasing to the point that we called Mauro in Genoa who walked Stephen through a nozzle warm-up. We finished run 5028 to change a H2 bottle and started 5029 with 1/3 of the 7th point to go. Notes for Next Shift and Longer term: Meet at 4 pm to discuss the rest of the run. We are probably beyond the peak from a look at the 5028 data. It would be sensible to do a smallish step next (150 keV?) We failed to get the scaler program running and this means no audible alarm when data taking hangs. Could someone tell us how to print out the daq windows? Stephen
