Shift Summary for 3/15/00 8:00-16:00 On Shift: JK,GB Runs: 5235 Psi' scan 1st point (3688.3 MeV) Beginning Current : 18.08 mA Final Current : 16.90 mA Integrated Luminosity : 72 nb^-1 Stopped early due to high Min Bias rate to disk. The Min Bias prescale was changed to fix this for the next run. 5236 Psi' scan 1st point (3688.3 MeV) Beginning Current : 16.67 mA Final Current : 15.67 mA Integrated Luminosity : 71 nb^-1 Stopped early due to a Stephen - Rosanna discussion of how much data we should take. 5237 Psi' scan 1st point (3688.3 MeV) Beginning Current : 15.46 mA Final Current : 14.63 mA Integrated Luminosity : 62 nb^-1 Total Integrated Luminosity at 1st point : 205 nb^-1 Deceleration begins at 13:25 with 14.58 mA Deceleration ends at 14:55 with 14.30 mA 5238 pedestal run 5239 Psi' scan 2nd point (3686.6 MeV) ... missed 3687 MeV Beginning Current : 14.16 mA passed on to evening shift Summary: We are continuing to run with the increased NT rates (see owl shift summary). It is not clear whether this is really even a problem or simply the result of changing the HV for the CCAL block gains. It will be investigated. There were many, many DAQ Hangs. All fixed with resets. DYC15 constantly gave out of order errors. The cause is not known (loose cable, bad module?), but it is not deemed serious. The Gas Jet clogged twice. This was noticed when the rate dropped quickly over a few minutes and the density readback was very different (low) compared to the set value. The procedure for unclogging was used both times successfully. Stephen pointed out the small spike in rate one can see as the clog in the nozzle is vaporized. A high occupancy was seen for R12 W33-W48 TDC's and ADC's due to a bad shaper board or shaper board slot. A temporary fix was made by Michelle by raising the discriminator threshold from 3.5 mV to 6 mV. Michelle will provide a routine to turn off the offending blocks in offline analyses. Mainframe 3 card 12 has 4 blocks whose voltages are 60 Volts higher than the demand. This card was replaced before run 5239. Wander asked that we check the VLPC HV modules above the HV monitor to reset it if anything trips due to temperature fluctuations. No resets were necessary as of the end of the day shift. During the first run main frame 6 mysteriously turned off causing a section of CCAL wedges to disappear from the Online Monitor. This was fixed by turning mainframe 6 back on. A partially full cup of water spilled on some gas check forms. This was fixed by wiping up the water. Giovanni put instructions in the log book for checking overload on the straw HV. Gabriele perfomed some high density tests on the gas jet. See log book for details. After talking to Dave McGinnis, Stephen says we must absolutely finish taking data by 7:45a tomorrow (Thursday) 3/16/00 so the vacuum repairs can take place. Plan is to take 1.5 mA at 3686.6 MeV. Average Instantaneous Luminosity was about 2.0x10^31. Going too much higher caused many more DAQ hangs. Have a nice evening, Jason & Giovanni
