Shift Summary for 4/20/00 8:00-4:00 On Shift: JK,MN (KEG) Log Book #7 pages 92-96 Run Summary: 5516 chi0 (3410 MeV) beginning current: 29.1 mA final current : 25.8 mA total luminosity : 280.5 nb-1 5517 chi0 (3410 MeV) beginning current: 25.8 mA final current : 22.8 mA total luminosity : 241.3 nb-1 Deceleration to 3405 MeV finished with 21.6 mA 5518 pedestal run (failed when rlogin to fn835y timed out. Fixed by Keith) 5519 pedestal run 5520 chi0 (3405 Mev) beginning current: 21.5 mA final current : 0.0 mA total luminosity : 76.0 nb-1 Comments: A bad NIM-ECL channel for the scalers was causing the 1e_new rate to fluctuate dramatically. WB & KEG moved the cable to another channel. So, future people on shift, be aware that this has changed the order of the scaler rates on the scaler window (make sure you look at the labels!). Also, the old "VETO" label has been changed to the more descriptive "H2=SF=3". At 15:30 power was lost to the CUB (Central Utilities Building). This caused us to lose our cold water supply. The two main effects of this are: 1) The magnets warmed up very quickly, changing the B field and thus we lost the beam 2) The ac in the counting room is not working so as many of the computers and electronics were shut down as was practical (in the first 30 minutes there was a 2.5 degree C increase in temperature). Good Afternoon, Jason & Matteo
