Shift Summary 5/23 evening: RR and SP Ecm 3525.1 MeV, I initial 32.29mA, I final 25.70mA Logbook 7 pages 292-296 Run 5738 (inherited) 319 nb-1 Run 5739 317 nb-1 Run 5740 generously left to next shift total so far 2.2 pb-1 There has been a major problem with the cryo system for the VLPC's and they were turned off just after the start of 5740. There is a leak in the transfer line out of the dewar and the pump on this line cannot maintain the vacuum. We called Rich Schmitt and Bruce Lambin. Bruce came in and in discussion with Rich we have decided to shut the system down. In particular, the LN2 flow has to be stopped to prevent freezing water out into the line which would take a long time to remove. In the morning, we will try to put an R(esidual)G(as)A(nalyser) on the line to see if the leak is Nitrogen, Helium or Air. Beam and Target well behaved.. DAQ too - a few hangs only all of which could be reset. Stephen and Roger
