On shift: GL , AB 16:00 - 00:00 Logbook 7 pages 302-304 , logbook 8 page 1 Ecm = 3526.2 MeV Run 5746 70.99 nb-1 Run 5747 101.02 nb-1 Run 5748 under way Ibeam at start : 38.01 mA Ibeam at end : 27.90 Typical sigmaP: 1.4 MeV/c for runs 5746 and 5747 , 1.5 MeV/c for run 5748 so far Comments: we started taking data at 17:34; the beam width during run 5746 was not satisfactory (1.5 MeV/c) and the beam loss rate was high (up to 3 mA/hr) so data taking was suspended to allow Martin Hu to improve the beam situation. He managed to bring sigmaP down to 1.3 MeV/c and, even though the loss rate was still very high we restarted taking data; after 1.5 h sigmaP was high again and we paused the run to allow some beam manipulation. After 50 min the situation was not improved so after some more cooling , with sigmaP around 1.35 MeV/c, we resumed data taking, but the DAQ froze and we had to perform a drt_fresh_start for run 5748. Throughout the shift there was (and there still is) a persistent smell of burned rubber in AP50 near some of the quadrupole power supplies, which were surveyed by people from MCR, but without discovering the problem.
