On shift: MN, FM, PR 08:00 - 16:00 Logbook 8 pages 18-23 Ecm = 3523.5 MeV Run 5757 (inherited) 330.5 nb-1 Run 5758 138.3 nb-1 Run 5748 (in progress) Ibeam at start : 39.0 mA Ibeam at end : 34.6 mA Typical sigmaP: 1.7-2.0 MeV/c Comments: 08:45 some of the scaler rates are found to be lower than they used to be (e.g. May 17). In particular Etot80% (-35%), Etot70% (-28%) and GM1 (-10%). 09:30 during the last 1/2 an hour we've observed twice a net decreasing of the trigger and logging rates (lasting a few minutes). This is probably due to fibers, but it didn't last enough to let us investigate. Anyway it has not occurred again. 09:58 Steve Werkema calls from MCR and asks us to turn the jet off because of beam instability. Run 5758 paused. 10:55 Jet on and density slowly raised, the beam is still unstable. Anyway data taking is resumed. 11:55 MCR called to say that there is a cold water leakage. It also affects our conditioning. 12:08 Werkema asks us to turn off the target again because of problems with the cooling system. Run 5758 first paused and then stopped at 12:30. 13:50 Werkema says to turn slowly on the target. We are now taking data at a lower luminosity (2 x 10^31 cm^-2 s^-1) to avoid the beam instability.
